Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. Related technologies like localStorage are used for similar purposes. This policy covers both.
2. How PDFwarp uses cookies
PDFwarp uses the minimum storage needed for the service to function — primarily to keep you signed in. We also rely on third-party services for analytics and advertising, which set their own cookies. Each third party is listed in Section 4.
Where the law requires it (including the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada), consent for advertising cookies is collected through Google's certified consent message, which appears before any personalized advertising is used. Elsewhere, our own cookie banner asks before analytics loads, and ads run in Google's standard non-personalized-by-default mode until you accept.
3. Essential storage PDFwarp sets
We use the following browser storage items ourselves:
- pd_token — a JSON Web Token stored in localStorage when you log in. It contains your user ID, email, and plan, and is cryptographically signed so it can't be forged. It is sent with your requests to authenticate you. It is removed when you log out.
- pdfwarp_consent_v2 — stored in localStorage to remember whether you accepted or declined our cookie banner, so we don't show it on every visit. (Google's consent message, where it applies, stores its own consent record.)
Without pd_token you would need to log in on every page load. We do not use either of these for tracking or profiling.
4. Third-party services and the cookies they set
The following third parties may set cookies or load scripts on pdfwarp.com:
- Google Analytics (tracking ID G-DN9EYS12VF) — sets cookies to distinguish unique users and sessions. Used to understand which pages are popular and how visitors navigate the site. Document contents are never sent to Google Analytics. Opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
- Google AdSense — the AdSense script loads on every page because it also delivers Google's certified consent message where the law requires one. Until you consent (through Google's message, or our banner elsewhere), consent-mode signals stay denied and ads are limited/non-personalized. With consent, AdSense may serve personalized ads based on your browsing history across the web. AdSense receives only that you viewed a page on pdfwarp.com; it does not receive the contents of any file you upload. Change your choice any time on the Cookie Preferences page or at Google Ad Settings.
- Google Identity Services (Sign-In) — the "Continue with Google" button loads a script from accounts.google.com. This script is loaded on every page so the button can render. If you sign in with Google, additional cookies are set to complete authentication. You can avoid these by creating an account with email and password instead.
- Stripe — sets cookies during subscription checkout for fraud prevention. These are only active on pages where Stripe's checkout is used. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
We do not control cookies set by these third parties. Their cookie practices are governed by their own policies.
5. What we do NOT do
- We do not set our own tracking or behavioral profiling cookies.
- We do not use social media tracking pixels from Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, or similar platforms.
- We do not sell cookie or browsing data to third parties.
- We do not use cookies to process or track the contents of files you upload — file processing does not involve cookies at all.
6. Managing cookies and storage
You can control cookies and localStorage in several ways:
- Browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their privacy settings. Clearing storage for pdfwarp.com will log you out and reset the cookie banner.
- Consent prompts — decline non-essential cookies in Google's consent message (where it appears) or in our banner. Revisit your choice any time on the Cookie Preferences page.
- Third-party opt-outs — use the specific opt-out links in Section 4.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
