About this tool

Combining multiple PDF files into one document is one of the most common PDF tasks — for contracts, reports, portfolios, and more. PDFwarp merges your PDFs instantly in the browser with no quality loss and no signup required.

How it works

  1. Upload two or more PDF files using the upload area or drag and drop.
  2. Drag to reorder files if needed, then click Merge PDFs.
  3. Your combined PDF is ready — download it instantly.

Features

Tips for best results

Drag to set the final order

Files are merged in the order they appear on screen. Rearrange the thumbnails before clicking Merge — reordering after the fact means starting over.

Watch your total size

Free accounts allow 25 MB across all files combined (10 MB without an account). If you're close to the limit, run each source PDF through Compress PDF first — you'll usually shave 30-60% without visible quality loss.

Scanned PDFs merge large

Merging five 20-page scans produces a single, hefty file. If you need searchable text later, run each scan through AI Scan to Text before merging so the result stays usable.

Merge isn't always the answer

For documents you'll continue editing, a merged PDF loses its section boundaries. Bookmarks inside one source PDF often work better for navigation.

Under the hood

Pages are copied, never re-rendered

PDFwarp merges with pypdf at the object level: each page's content stream, fonts, and images move into the combined file exactly as they were stored in the source. Nothing is rasterized, recompressed, or redrawn — which is why merging two 5 MB files gives you roughly a 10 MB file with pixel-identical pages, not a degraded copy.

Every file is validated before the merge starts

Each upload is checked for a real PDF header (the %PDF magic bytes), then opened by a strict parser before any writing begins. If one file is corrupt, you get told which one by number — instead of a half-merged document that fails on page 34.

Your drag order is honored page-by-page

The thumbnail grid doesn't just send file order — it submits an explicit page map (which file, which page, in which position). The server assembles exactly the sequence you arranged on screen, including interleaved pages from different source files.
